Progress on two new city-owned child-care centres is on time and on budget.

A report to council notes construction projects at the Vernon Recreation Centre and Lakers Clubhouse property are both on schedule six months into construction.

The complex child care facility beside the rec centre on 35th Avenue is being built by Sawchuk Developments.

The report notes the contractor has completed roof sheathing and water membrane underlayment.

Framing for interior walls is being completed, along with the installation of windows and doors.

lt is anticipated the facility will be at the lock-up stage by the end of April, and that the start of rough-in plumbing, electrical and HVAC installs will be underway.

Meanwhile, the Lakers facility is being built by ANR Construction.

Most electrical, HVAC and plumbing installation has been completed in preparation for closing up the walls.

Drywall work is underway and will continue through May.

Exterior finishing, roofing and siding is in the process of being installed along with the concrete walkways, sidewalks and pads.

The centres will be operated by the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Okanagan.
