East Bay Drywall LLC convinced a New Jersey appellate court Tuesday to rule largely in its favor in an employment dispute by finding it properly classified most of the entities that performed drywall installation for the company as independent contractors.
The dispute arose when the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development conducted an audit of records and an auditor concluded that about half of the installers who worked for East Bay between 2013 and 2016 had been improperly classified as independent contractors.
