Drywall Contractor Fined $7.2 Million by California Labor Chief – Bloomberg Law

The California Labor Commissioner’s Office said Monday that it has issued more than $7.2 million in citations to a drywall company accused of underpaying workers.

The company, Visalia, Calif., -based NGC Construction, Inc., allegedly paid workers by the project, including drywall installation, painting, and stucco application, rather than by the hour. As a result, the workers weren’t paid for non-productive time and earned less than minimum wage. Some of the company’s truck drivers weren’t paid overtime. The violations affected 724 workers.
